Apple iPod: Good News and Bad News

First, the good news: iPod does not interfere with pacemakers. This was the official conclusion of a study done by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in Rockville, Md. A previous study done by a 17-year-old found suggested that close proximity to an iPod makes pacemakers skip a beat. This was in a way corroborated by rumors of heath patients with pacemakers experiencing discomfort when they are near an iPod. Howard Basse and his team tested four iPods – fourth-generation iPod and an iPod with video, and an iPod nano and iPod shuffle – and found out neither produce magnetic fields strong enough to affect pacemakers. Now for the bad news: iPod Classic 1.1 firmware update sends an electric voltage to users’ headphones thereby damaging them. Source.

Pink iPod Nano for Your Geeky Valentine

Apple has just announced a pink version of the iPod Nano Phatty, which is truly a phatty in my own humble opinion. It’s only $199 like the other 8GB Nano videos, which is well within my budget. To May, you’ve got yourself a pretty hot “I care about your happiness” gift. Just don’t strain your lovely eyes watching the old Charlie’s Angels TV show.

iPhone 1.1.3 Jailbreak from iPhone Development Community

I hope this is absolutely true. As proof to Apple, the iPhone/ iPod Touch jail break community found the codename “LittleBear” in firmware 1.1.3.

The jailbreak for iPhone and iPod Touch firmware 1.1.3 has already been achieved by none other than the iPhone Development Team and iPhone Elite. Install third-party apps to your iPhone and iPod Touch. There is no public release of the jailbreak of the method. The Jailbreaking iPhone Development Community is resisting blurting out the means towards a jailbroken iPhone until they are certain anyone can do it without professional help…. Such caring folks. We love you!

Stupidest Announcement at MacWorld: iPod Touch Map for $20 Extra

This is by far Steve Jobs’ and Apple’s stupidest move. What amounts to an update for a smart gadget like the iPod Touch now comes with a price, according to Apple. Yes, you can now have an e-mail service on your iPod Touch + Google Maps with location support via WiFi triangulation. But $20 for these features? On a device that already has the capacity for such applications with no hardware additions, but only a little tweaking on the software side? Bah!

Didn’t Apple recently report a cash surplus? Then why so greedy Apple?
