First, the good news: iPod does not interfere with pacemakers. This was the official conclusion of a study done by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in Rockville, Md. A previous study done by a 17-year-old found suggested that close proximity to an iPod makes pacemakers skip a beat. This was in a way corroborated by rumors of heath patients with pacemakers experiencing discomfort when they are near an iPod. Howard Basse and his team tested four iPods – fourth-generation iPod and an iPod with video, and an iPod nano and iPod shuffle – and found out neither produce magnetic fields strong enough to affect pacemakers. Source.

Now for the bad news: iPod Classic 1.1 firmware update sends an electric voltage to users’ headphones thereby damaging them. Source.
