The iPhone Development Team is releasing their official iPhone firmware 1.1.3 jailbreak. This makes the jailbreak world a little more complicated since. Didn’t Nate True, one of them, already released a jailbreak for iPhone’s latest firmware update? This “official iPhone Dev 1.1.3 Jailbreak was released by Nerve Gas in this forum. Like Nate True’s jailbreak, you need an already jailbroken iPhone but the official hack is more specific: iPhone jailbroken for v1.1.2 with the BSD Subsystem v1.5 or higher installed. Still very very hazardous for you iPhone’s health.

Here’s the iPhone Dev Team jailbreak. The forum where it was announced.
Whoops! Those brave souls who have been holding their breath for the iPhone development Community’s 1.1.3 jailbreak may be in for some sobering realization. Ever heard of iPhone SDK (software development kit)? If you still haven’t jailbroken or bricked your iPhones and iPod Touches, know that iPhone Dev team’s jailbreak for firmware 1.1.3 disables Nikita in the OS, which is crucial in supporting future third-party applications. In the words of iPhone developer Jonathan Zdziarski:

“It looks like Nate’s [Nate True, one of the 1.1.3 jailbreak developers] update causes Nikita to break (Nikita is the component on the iPhone/iTouch responsible for installing signed software, such as the iPod App Pack and likely SDK apps in the future),” adding “We believe this is because the soft-update method that was released doesn’t update the kernel cache, so users are likely still booting into the 111 or 112 kernel, which is lacking the necessary DRM components to verify/decrypt packages with Nikita.” Read more.

On a more positive note, Deutsche Telekom is selling 40 iPhones at hour in Germany, totaling 70,000 units for 11 weeks. Source.

The iPhone Developement Team has published its official jailbreak for 1.1.3 firmware for the iPhone. They said they would and now it’s here. This is a working jailbreak for 1.1.3 but it only works as an upgrade. It will not work for a “married” AT&T iPhone. Your iPhone will need to be a jailbroken 1.1.1 or a jailbroken 1.1.2.

Warning. Jailbreak for 1.1.3 is extremely risky. iPhone Dev Team has theirs working but that doesn’t mean it will work 100% without consequences, especially if you don’t do yours right. You need to back up on iTunes before you begin the process…

Or wait for the video tutorial… Anyway, here it is.

MAC VERSION – Download the 1.1.3 package maker and open it, then run Run_This. Read carefully, press Enter when necessary, and the image will be uploaded to your phone.

Here’s how you do it:
- Start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken phone with Installer.app installed.
- Plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
- Download, extract, and run iBrickr Special 1.1.3 jailbreak edition (ibrickr.exe in the archive).
- iBrickr will determine what firmware you are running on your phone and make sure you can run the update.
- iBrickr will then guide you through the process of obtaining and modifying the 1.1.3 firmware (make sure to read everything thoroughly).
- iBrickr will upload the new firmware image to your phone. Note that this only puts the file on your phone and does not modify it at all, yet.
- When iBrickr finishes (should take about 10 minutes), it will tell you to go to Installer and install the “1.1.3 soft upgrade” package. Do that.
- When the installer finishes (this should take another 10-15 minutes), your phone should reboot with a fresh activated 1.1.3 firmware.

I hope this is absolutely true. As proof to Apple, the iPhone/ iPod Touch jail break community found the codename “LittleBear” in firmware 1.1.3.

The jailbreak for iPhone and iPod Touch firmware 1.1.3 has already been achieved by none other than the iPhone Development Team and iPhone Elite. Install third-party apps to your iPhone and iPod Touch. There is no public release of the jailbreak of the method. The Jailbreaking iPhone Development Community is resisting blurting out the means towards a jailbroken iPhone until they are certain anyone can do it without professional help…. Such caring folks. We love you!
