It will come as no surprise after Steve Jobs poor showing at MacWorld that people will turn to his arch-rival Bill Gates as their new role model. An entity called the GBC Document Finishing Group of ACCO Brands commissioned Deep Blue Insight Group to survey consumers on who they admired most among celebrities. Now, I’m not particularly keen on the money (jam money, as in blueberry jam) behind the study, but the result leaves little room for doubt who U.S. citizens like better, Steve or Bill.
No contest.
Bill Gates had the vote of 47% of all the respondents. Steve Jobs wasn’t even on the running. Oprah was number two with 25%. Cleaning up the bottom are the beautiful people like Gisele Bundchen, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Too bad Steve can’t even compete compete on the looks department.

I kinda like the slap in the face reality of the study. Steve’s got a cult, but that’s basically it, a cult.

As much as I love Apple, I find myself liking Steve Jobs less and less. I heard he snubbed a blogger at Macworld for a picture. She asked to take a photo with him, he calls her rude and walks away… sorry Steve for taking one second of your time. Maybe you should spend more of your time making products your “old faithfuls” need instead of pointless niche crap that a fraction of the population can use. The Macbook Air is like an expensive two seater convertible. More of a second ride than an essential means of getting around.
I have admired Bill Gates for a long time. Anyone who can give that much back to the world at that level can really make changes. If only there were more people like him we might not be in the place our economy is right now.
I feel better now…thanks.
